Speaker Spotlight: Cody Landefeld

Grasshopper Says: Design is not just about how it looks, it needs to work and that is when you find success. If you are looking for other fresh and true wisdoms, be sure to check out Cody Landefeld’s session on Designing Success for WordPress.

With that said, here’s the next Speaker Spotlight:

How long have you been working with WordPress and what first attracted you to it?

I have been using WordPress with the last 6 years and the ease of use it was attracted me to it. At the time my company was building custom Content Management Systems for our client projects, but we found WordPress to be a much more effective and exquisite piece of software that was fully featured out of the box. We began using it for over 80 percent of our clients and haven’t looked back!

What are your thoughts on the WordPress community as a whole, including WordCamps?

There is a tightly knit community of WordPress contributors that spans the globe. I am glad to be a part of this community as I can pick up the phone, connect on social media, and continue to reach out to my colleagues in the WordPress space. So there is great worth of shared knowledge and help for those of us in the community. WordCamps are great for us in the community to come together and connect to stay in front of each other, build loyalty, and talk through common issues we all face.

Who in the WordPress community inspires you? Who do you follow?

I really like what 9Seeds is doing as a company. They do some great things in the WordPress space and continue to produce great work. I follow 9Seeds, Pagely, Bill Erickson, and Chuck Reynolds.

What is the most exciting feature/addition/improvement to WordPress that you have noticed in the last year?

The addition of the admin panel with WordPress 3.1 was an excellent enhancement to the feature set. It provides a great way for the clients to be able to edit their content while viewing their site and being logged in.

Where do you see WordPress 2 years from now?

WordPress will continue to gain more ground as a standard for blogging and content management systems. The adoption will continue to grow and the efficiency of it will continue to increase with each release.
